Having Trouble Hearing?

Commonly, an ear problem in the outer or middle ear is referred to as a conductive hearing loss, while inner-ear problems or brain-processing difficulties are referred to as sensorineural hearing loss. These are two distinct types of hearing loss with differing treatment methods.

All treatment starts with meeting with one of our expert audiologists to assess your needs with a consultation and our effective 4-step hearing test process.

What Our Patients Have to Say

  • "Montezuma Hearing has provided my hearing care for the past fifteen years. Dr Story keeps me up to date with regular annual evaluations, tweaking the tuning of my hearing aides and suggesting hardware upgrades as the technology improves. Scott Story keeps my devices in good repair and in proper tune. An important item to me is accessibility when needed. The staff tries hard to accommodate my needs in a timely manner. Usually my wait times do not exceed two days. I am totally satisfied with Montezuma Hearing; Lucia, Scott and their staff provide all that I need to make my hearing as best as it can be; importantly there is a feeling of family at Montezuma Hearing and I feel a part of it."

    William Randall

  • "Diane was very knowledgeable and friendly. Would recommend her and Durango audiology to anyone! Dee Prock - Diane was super knowledgeable and helpful. We felt so comfortable with their professional setting. Highly recommend this audiology team! :)"

    Sue Daley

  • "Dr Story was methodical and meticulous in her approach of ensuring I receive the best possible hearing device for my individual hearing loss."

    Tim O’Connell

  • "If you are in the area, stop in if you have tinnitus or hearing loss. The staff are friendly and respectful. They really helped me out with my hearing issues. I was in a tryout hearing aid for 10days. I had a hearing aid setup to keep the day I brought the demo back."

    Hilary Mockewich

  • "I heard so many positive reports about this clinic that I drove 50 miles to my appointment about 15years ago. I was so impressed with the friendly staff and Dr Storey’s professional service that I bought my first hearing aids there. Every time I returned for batteries or service I was greeted with the same attitude and enthusiasm as the original visit. A very good place to do business."

Is There a Ringing In Your Ears?

That ringing in your ears is called tinnitus. Tinnitus is actually a medical condition characterized by persistent ringing in one or both ears that can only be heard by the affected individual.

There is currently no cure for tinnitus, but will work with you to identify potential causes and find a treatment to lessen the impact.

Having Issues with Your Hearing Aids?

Even if you take care of your hearing aids and keep up with regular maintenance, time takes its toll on all technology, and it’s possible that yours will eventually wear out through the course of normal use.

If you’re having any trouble with your hearing aids we’re more than happy to help you get your devices back in working order.

Explore the Link Between Hearing Loss and Cognitive Decline

Hearing loss is more than just a communication issue — it may increase your risk of memory loss, dementia, and other cognitive problems. Studies show that treating hearing loss with hearing aids and audiologic care could slow cognitive decline by nearly 50% in at-risk older adults.

Regular hearing evaluations are a vital part of total health — just like eye exams or dental checkups. Learn how taking care of your hearing may help preserve brain function and reduce your dementia risk.

Is Someone You Love Having Hearing Difficulties?

Even relatively mild hearing loss can seriously disrupt how we interact and connect with others. Without healthy hearing, the consequences for our health become greater, and overall quality of life can plummet.

If no single significant event occurred that may have caused a sudden change in hearing ability, it’s typically a slow decline. There are many signs you can look for to determine if there may be an issue.
